Angela Marie Dagitz
July 11, 1965 - December 2, 2019
Angela Marie Dagitz, age 54, lost a courageous seven-year battle with cancer on December 2, 2019. She passed away peacefully in the hospital with family by her side. Angie was born on July 11, 1965 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She grew up in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Angie received a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She later attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout and received her Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling. Angie worked as a clinical therapist at Outagamie County Health and Human Services for the past 23 years. Angie lived life to the fullest in her 54 years. Angie kept a fully decorated and flocked Christmas tree in her home year-round for "emotional support." A lover of travel, Angie never missed a chance to explore the world. She loved spending time on a beach or visiting foreign cities. However, Angie’s greatest pride and joy was her daughter, Maria. Angie adored Maria with her entire being and loved attending her sports activities, musical performances, and spending quiet moments together at home. Angie always said that she needed to fight her cancer for as long as possible to be there for Maria. Those close to Angie knew that the love for her daughter kept her alive and fighting for considerably longer than even her doctors expected. Angie met the love of her life, Evan, during the initial stages of her cancer battle. Evan was an amazing partner who filled her life with laughter, love, and comfort for her last six years. Angie and Evan were an amazing couple who truly brought out the best in each other. Although often apart, Angie cherished her relationship with her step-son, Krisstofer, and was glad that they remained close through the years. Angie is survived by her daughter, Maria Johnson; her partner, Evan Zemke; her step-son Krisstofer Staerkel; her father, Roger (Brenda) Dagitz; her brother, John (Deborah) Dagitz; and her nieces, Madison and Isabel Dagitz. Angie was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Dagitz. Angie's family would like to extend our gratitude to the amazing staff at Froedert Hospital, especially Dr. James Thomas and Physician's Assistant Yee Lan Wong for their tremendous care and compassion. A visitation for Angie will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 2 to 5pm at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr, Oshkosh, WI In lieu of flowers, memorials may either be made to an established fund for Maria at https://thedagitz.com/mariaJohnson/, or in support of cancer research through the Medical College of Wisconsin, Attn: Office of Development, 8701 Watertown Plank Rd.
