Ellen Alice Gumz

Ellen Alice Gumz was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world to be reunited with those loved ones who have gone before her on September 24, 2021 at the age of 95. She was born on July 7, 1926 a daughter of the late Arthur and Nola (Finch) Miller. She worked at the Continental Men's Clothing Store in Oshkosh where she met the love of her life, Edward W. Gumz. They were married on November 8, 1947 and Ed preceded her in death in 1995. They were blessed with four boys in the next four years and then by two daughters. Ellen loved the outdoors, tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She was well known in the family for her brownies and apple pie slices. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, crafting, cross country skiing, time spent with her grandchildren, and time also with her EAA friends each year. She is survived by and her memory will be cherished by her four sons, Wayne (Donna) of Winneconne, William and Eugene “Peter” (Karen) both of Mt. Morris and Paul (Margery) of Van Dyne. Two daughters, Nancy (Mark) Winkler of Neenah and Amy (Jon) Sieber of Indianapolis, Indiana; a sister, Joyce Moon of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded also in death by four brothers and two sisters. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 6 pm in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Drive. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 pm until the time of service. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Ellen will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
