Gary Russell Dodge

October 20, 1946 - April 21, 2022

Gary Russell Dodge, age 75, passed away Thursday morning, April 21, 2022 at King’s Veteran’s Home after a courageous battle with pneumonia. Gary had been a resident of King’s Veteran’s Home since 2006. Gary was born October 20, 1946 in Oshkosh, WI to parents Russell and Florence Dodge. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1964 and enlisted in the US Army upon graduation. Gary had worked at Morgan Doors and Duo Safety Ladder. Gary was an Elvis fanatic. He was listening to and singing Elvis’s songs right before he passed. He also loved fishing, the Packers and the Brewers. He played baseball and football in his youth and was an avid bowler. Gary really enjoyed the visits with his siblings. He especially liked when his sisters brought him “glazers,” milkshakes from Culvers and homemade zucchini bread. His favorite treat was herring and crackers his brothers brought on their visits. One of Gary’s favorite things to do at King was attend church on a daily basis. It didn’t matter if it was Lutheran or Catholic services, he attended both. He was preceded in death by his parents; Russell and Florence Dodge, his wife; Claudette and his nephew; Daniel T. Borski. He is survived by his siblings; Ronald (Kathleen) Dodge, Gail (Gary) Lenz, Douglas (Catherine) Dodge and Nancy Bloechl. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at Lakeview Memorial Park Chapel (2786 Algoma Blvd) in Oshkosh, at 12:00pm on Wednesday April 27, 2022. A time for visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of service at the chapel. Burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Park with full military honors. Gary’s family would like to especially thank the nurses and staff at King’s Veteran’s Home, Olson Hall and MacArthur Hall for the wonderful care they provided Gary.
