Joseph Mathe Jr.

November 15, 1936 - December 14, 2021

God has called Joseph Mathe Jr. , loving father, friend, home on Tuesday December 14th, 2021. He's left fishing, hunting, shooting, Harley riding, polka and square dancing behind to start his new journey in heaven. He will be missed by so many people, but welcomed by so many angels. The last of his family to join the angels. Generous, kind, and patient were a few of dad's virtues. He said his greatest accomplishments were his six children. Ours was having you as our dad. We will miss you so much. Love, Mike, Suzie, Jim, Larry, Dianne, and Steve. Joseph was born in Oshkosh on November 15, 1936, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Berendt Mathe Sr.. He married Nancy Ostwald in Oshkosh. Later in life, he remarried Rose (Schultz). Until the time of his retirement he worked at Chief Equipment as a mechanic. He was a Cub Scout leader, a member of the Berlin Gun Club, Timber Topper Square Dancers, Omro Bow Hunters, and also a State of Wisconsin Fishing Guide. Joe is survived by his six sons, Mike (Lisa) Mathe, Jim (Robyn) Mathe, Larry Mathe, Steve Mathe, Rick (Anne) Schultz, Billy (Derek) Schultz. Four daughters, Sue (Len) Rothe, Dianne Mathe, Edie (Soren) May, Tina (Mark) Greisbach. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Soul brother and best friend Bruce (Risa) Schrieber. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Rose), and three brothers: Donald Mathe, John Mathe, and Clifford Mathe. Three sisters: Audrey Ceelen, Irene Pocquette, and Dorothy Mathe. Also, one great grandchild Jonathan Schultz. In keeping with family wishes, a private family ceremony will be held. Please in dad's memory, "Pay It Forward". Joe's family wishes to extend a very special "Thank You" to the staff at Oakwood Manor, and Generations Hospice, for the loving care given to dad. God Bless you all.
