Judith Ann Buechel

June 22, 1941 - October 15, 2021

Judith Ann Buechel, age 80, of Oshkosh passed away on Friday October 15th, at Cherry Meadows in Appleton after a valiant battle with kidney disease and malignant glioma. She was a true warrior, who is finally at peace. Judy was born in Oshkosh on June 22, 1941; the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Kutchenriter) Brickham. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Green Bay. While in Green Bay she met the love of her life Tom (Thomas) Buechel on a blind date arranged by a priest when they were just 16, marking the beginning of Divine True Love. They were married on October 7, 1961 and were inseparable, recently celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Through the years they made their home in Shawano and Ashwaubenon Wisconsin; Brighton Michigan; finally settling in Oshkosh for the past 31 years. She worked for many years as a florist, where customers often became friends. After retirement she continued to volunteer her time and talents, and especially enjoyed sharing her canned goods, delicious baking and hearty dinners with friends, family and ‘adopted’ grandchildren. She had unending patience and truly cherished the small moments most, playing with and entertaining children was her super power. She was a kind and gentle soul who touched so many, teaching the meaning of selfless love by example. Nobody poured her cup more than everyone’s Grandma Judy. Through the years she relished traveling with Tom through Wisconsin, the United States, and abroad. She was creative, enjoying many crafts and sharing her beautiful voice. Her soft rendition of “You are my Sunshine” is weaved through our family; her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will forever remember her sweet song. She was truly Our Sunshine. Above all else Judy loved her family. She was an adoring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and true friend. Judy will be dearly missed by her loving husband and soulmate, Tom; her children Connie (Tim) Schultz, Junction City; Mark Buechel, Omaha NB; Lisa (Dale) LaCoursiere, Hortonville; 10 grandchildren and their partners: Dane (Shelby Peterson), Trevor and Liam Schultz; Sarah (Scott Gustufson), Ryan and Sam (Karen) Buechel; Ben (Emily), Nathan (Monica), Jacob and Arianna LaCoursiere and 2 great grandchildren: June Schultz and Charlotte LaCoursiere. She leaves behind a sister Bonnie (Gary) Elmer, brothers Jack (Mary) and Don (Bobbie) Brickham, sister-in-laws Margaret Braun Wilz and Reetz Buechel; brother-in-law Fran Buechel and 35 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold Brickham and Mary (Brickham) Cornette; her step-father Gordy Cornette; her father and mother-in-law Albert and Florence (McCormick) Buechel; siblings Jim Brickham, Harold (Skip) Brickham, Pat Smith and her husband John, Mary Ann Brickham, Joan Brickham Hendricks McHugh, Mike Brickham; brother-in-laws Mel Hendricks, Robert Buechel, William Buechel, Roger Braun, Richard Wilz, nephew Joseph Braun and grandson, Evan AJ Schultz. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday October 19, 2021 at 11am at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church (830 S. Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh). Father Kevin Ripley will be the celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 am until the time of Mass.
