Louis James Griedl

November 21, 1929 - February 9, 2022

Louis J. Griedl, 92, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on February 9, 2022. Louis was born November 21, 1929, in Oshkosh, WI, the third of six children of Louis F. and Elizabeth (Gams) Griedl. He married Marilyn Ann Munsch in 1955 and they shared almost 67 years together. Louis graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School and then Oshkosh High School in 1949. He proudly served in the U. S. Air Force and his Great Falls baseball team won the Montana State Championship in 1952. After his time in the service, he established the RaLo bar with his brother Ralph in Oshkosh. He went on to work for North Central Airlines in Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Atlanta, and Green Bay. He completed his airline career in 1985 as a Regional Manager with Republic Airlines responsible for ground operations at 25 airports. Louis is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Scottsdale, AZ); sons James (Mary) of Spring, TX; Gary (Denise) of Oshkosh, WI; Dan (Carolyn) of Phoenix, AZ; and daughter Karen (Mark) Gangsei of Scottsdale, AZ; sister Betty (Wilbur) Pischke of Oshkosh, WI; and sister-in-law Lee Griedl of Ft. Atkinson, WI; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Louis is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ralph (Carol) and Roger (Lee), and sisters Shirley (Dale) Cushman and Marilyn (Al) Geen. Louis was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Scottsdale. He served in the Knights of Columbus. He was a trained Emergency Medical Technician. Louie and Marilyn had Green Bay Packer season tickets for many years and attended the Ice Bowl in 1966 and the first Super Bowl in 1967 in Los Angeles to watch the Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Louie loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren in WI, TX, and AZ. He was fortunate to enjoy most of his retirement summers in the Oshkosh area. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Parish - Sacred Heart site on Thursday, March 17 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the hour of services. at 9:30. Memorial gifts can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, The Wisconsin American Legion (Portage, WI), or your favorite charity in Louis’ name.
