Robert "Bob" L. Salzer

January 19, 1933 - August 17, 2021

Robert “Bob” L. Salzer, age 88, of Oshkosh, entered eternal life on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Bob was born at home in Oshkosh to the late Carl and Alice (Stearns) Salzer, on January 19, 1933. He attended St. Vincent Catholic Grade School and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1951. After High School, he served in the Army as a Staff Sargent in Korea from 1953 until 1955. Shortly after returning home, Bob began his 42 year career working at the Post Office until his retirement in 1998. On October 25, 1958, Bob married Nancy Doemel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Together for almost 27 years, they were happy raising their 4 children until her passing on June 21, 1985. September 16, 1999, Bob was blessed to find love again with Rose Kulibert and her family. Bob is survived by Rose, his loving partner of almost 22 years. Bob and Nancy’s children: Julie (Paul) Schuh of Little Chute, Daniel Salzer of Oshkosh, Jayne (Bill) Kirby of Colorado and Brian (Carlos Schillaci) Salzer of Hawaii. Grandchildren: Jenny (John) Janssen and their children, Brandon, Greyson, and Alivia; Tim (Jaimie) Schuh and their children: Oliver, Madelyn, and Braden; Dani Schuh (friend Kate): Liam and Madison Kirby. Rose’s children: Mike (Pat) Kulibert, Cathy (Tim) Cook and Carol (Greg) Bemis. Along with Rose’s many grandchildren and their children. Bob is also survived by his brothers and sister: Carl (Barb), John (Nancy), Harold (Nancy) Salzer, Elaine Hansen and sister-in law Sadano Salzer. Nancy’s siblings: Marilyn (Dennis) Hammerseng, Deanna Stearns, Robert (Susan), Steven (Susan), Richard (Norma), James (Connie), Charles (Susan), Jack (Wendy) Doemel, Patricia (Robert) Leary, Barbara (Jim) Robinson, and sister-in-law Connie Doemel; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is further survived by his special group “The Jackson Street Hardee Boys”. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, his brother Gerald Salzer, in-laws: Jerry Hansen, June (Willard) Janke, Carol (Don) Madaus, Janet (Philip) Lautenschlager, Richard Stearns and Harold Doemel Jr. A funeral liturgy for Bob will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 27, 2021, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 1225 Oregon St. (St. Vincent Church) in Oshkosh with Msg. John Schuh officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of mass. Burial will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery 2786 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh at 2:00 PM. The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone from Generations Hospice who cared for Bob during the last two difficult months. You were a quiet man with a gentle soul, you will be dearly missed!
