Thomas P. Skaug, age 75, of Oshkosh, passed away after a courageous battle with COPD on April 26, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on July 22, 1942 in Oshkosh a son of the late Phillip and Elsie (Meixl) Skaug. Tom married the former Pamela Jean Voelkel on January 23, 1971 in Oshkosh. Tom served his country in the US Army and was a member of the VFW Post 1908, AMVETS 7, DAV, VVA, MVA, USDR, Oshkosh Elks, American Legion Post 234 of Omro, SOA, VVMF, MVM, UVHG, 32nd Old Timers, TREA, Eangus, WNGEA, USAF Rotarheads. He was a helicopter crew chief in the US Air Force 1961-1972, Army Reserves 1972-1974, Wis National Guard 1157 Transportation 1984-1997. Tom did three tours in Vietnam and was also in Desert Storm. He had worked for 23 years at the Oshkosh Truck Corp. and for 4 years at Smith Security. He greatly enjoyed deer hunting and going to Camp 8 cabin and going to and participating in the Iola Car Show. Tom was also an avid Packer and Badger fan. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his wife, Pam of Oshkosh; two brothers, Timothy (Mary) Skaug and Terry (Annette) Skaug both of Oshkosh; sisters-in-law, Deborah Murphy of Indiana and Cynthia Voelkel of Oshkosh; two god children, Sherry Skaug and Brandi Thompson. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Funeral services for Tom will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:00 am in First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota St, in Oshkosh with the Rev. Timothy Greenwald officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m until the time of service. Burial with full military honors by the United Veterans Honor Guard (of which he was a member) will follow in Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
