Albert P Fisher's Obituary
Albert P. (Al) Fisher, age 95, of Oshkosh, WI passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
He was born in West De Pere, WI on June 27, 1927, son of the late Norman (Bert) and Rachael (Quinn) Fisher. Al attended St. Joseph Parish Grade School and St. Norbert High School located on now what is the campus of St. Norbert College. He also received his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Norbert’s College, West De Pere, WI. He stated many times that it was an honor to be a part of the rich history of what became St. Norbert College and to watch the campus grow into what it is today. He is a WWII Veteran, drafted by the United States Army, served his country March, 1946 through September, 1947. Al met the love of his life and married Carol Grace Doherty at St John the Baptist Church in Plymouth, WI on July 7, 1956 and together they raised 4 children. Carol preceded him in death on January 16, 2014. Al’s career was mainly in the clothing manufacturing industry. He worked for the family business, True Mfg Co (Lingerie), Gresham, WI, 10-X Mfg Co (Hunting Coats/Vests), Des Moines, IA, Sharps (Uniforms), Oshkosh, WI. In 1972, family moved from Des Moines, IA to Plymouth, WI when Al purchased the Plymouth Beer Depot. As owner and operator for 10 years, he was a well respected businessman and friend to many throughout those years. He was a Green Bay Packer fan, often reminiscing about going to the games as a child. Al enjoyed traveling, good food and spending time with family. Good times were had every summer in the early years renting a cottage for 2 weeks on Crystal Lake, near Plymouth, WI.
Al was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh, WI. He was a Honorary Lifetime Member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, St. Norbert Alumni Association and the Golden Knight Society.
Survivors include Four Children: Sherrie (Steve) Cobb, Spring City, TN, Connie Thuecks, Plymouth, WI, Pattie (Ray) Runde, Fairwater, WI, Brit Fisher, Appleton, WI 7 Grandchildren: Stephanie (William) Mansell, Brooklyn, NY, Samantha (Michelle) Cobb, Santa Fe, NM, Heston Thuecks, Kiel, WI, Ceann (Eric) Nass, Kewaskum, WI, Nick (Julie) Runde, Rosendale, WI, Megan Runde (Steve Jasso), Scottsdale, AZ, Adam Fisher, Appleton, WI 10 Great-Grandchildren: Ellis Mansell, Witten Cobb, Cooper Cobb, Sage Cobb, Bowen Nass, Bauer Nass, Baker Nass, Payton Runde, Harper Runde, Stevie Rae Jasso. He is further survived by Sister-In-Law Patricia Eirich. Nieces and Nephews Rick True, Pat (Angela) True, Peggy Character, Dennis Bohnsack, Kathy (Frank) Marsicek, Fr. David Bohnsack, Steve Eirich. *Al would also like to acknowledge these special friendships over the past years: MJ Ford, the 6:00 AM Hardee’s (Koeller St) Gang and Staff, Sacred Heart Catholic Church Community, Briarwood Cottage (20th Ave) Neighbors, Jeff’s on Rugby and Friar Tucks Staff. Al is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Carol (Doherty) Fisher, parents Bert and Rachael Fisher, one sister Patricia True, one sister-in-law Rose Marie Bohnsack, three brothers-in-law Fredrick True, Harold Bohnsack, Clarence Eirich, childhood friends Dick Hughes, Wally Zelten, Pat O’Meara, Joe Lense and Jim Diamond…..the boys are finally back together again. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed. Father Louis Golamari of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh will officiate burial services. Funeral Services were entrusted to Fiss & Bills - Poklansy Funeral Homes in Oshkosh, WI. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Neenah, WI.
