Allan F. Martin's Obituary
Allan Francis Martin of Oshkosh passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s at Aurora Medical Center on February 10, 2025.
He was born on October 19, 1936 in West Bend Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Emma Martin. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1955. Al told the story of how he met the love of his life Susanne Rose Weddig. He took Sue to the movie “High Society” on their 1st date and he knew it was true love. They married on October 24, 1959 in Kewaskum. Al served in the US Army where he successfully completed training to become a medical specialist. He served at Fort Lewis in Tacoma. After he was honorably discharged, he returned to Wisconsin with his wife and eldest son Greg.
In 1966, he moved to Oshkosh to help his childhood friend James Giombetti start The Exclusive Company of downtown Oshkosh. They successfully grew The Exclusive Company and became the largest record company in the USA with stores in 7 cities. He was a devote member at Sacred Heart (St. Jude), serving as an usher and worked alongside Sue to decorate the church. He was the Sacred Heart School Cub Scout Pack Master for 10 years. Allan and Sue enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad. Throughout his life Al enjoyed golfing, playing cribbage, and sheepshead with family and friends. He loved to tinker and fix projects inside and outside the home.
Allan will be missed by his six children Greg (Lauri) Martin, Kristine (Steve “Buck”) Fredrick, Douglas (Lina) Martin, Dennis Martin, Steven (Ann) Martin, and Jeffrey (Kristen Krasny) Martin. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Allan is survived by his sisters Joanne (Tom) Weddig, Kay (Roger) Frank, Susan (Ted) Bruesch, Jacquie (Dennis) Hall and surviving in-laws Elmyra Martin, Lee (June) Weddig, Judy Webster, Mary Weddig, and Edward (Jeanne) Weddig. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.
Along with his dear wife Sue, he is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers David and Vernon. Special thank you to Aurora Hospice, especially Amy Jo and Country Villa Assisted Living staff for the kind care and support.
Visitation will be 9-12:00 AM followed by mass and burial on February 22, 2025 at St Jude’s (Sacred Heart site). Heaven is now filled with Al’s harmonica music and he’s happily dancing with his Sue.
