Angeline "Angie" M. Turzenski's Obituary
Angeline M. “Angie” Turzenski, age 94, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024. She was born on August 28, 1930 in Mazomanie, WI to the late Peter and Martha (Schmitz) Wittmann. She attended the Wisconsin State College, Stevens Point (currently the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point) and subsequent to coursework and clinical work completed at University Hospitals-Madison, she became a licensed x-ray technician. While in college, she met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Turzenski. They married on June 13, 1953. They were blessed with three children.
Angie was incredibly hard working and was happiest when she was busy. Her family was her first priority but she also made time for her second passion-collecting antiques. She took great pride in decorating her antique filled home in Oshkosh and when that house was filled, she and Dick built a vacation home in Minocqua. Some of her antique Christmas collectables were featured at the Oshkosh Public Museum and she was known in the area for giving programs on antique Christmas ornaments and Valentines. She was a founding member of the Jennie Marvin Antique Club and an active member of the Fireside Antiques Club, the UW-Oshkosh Faculty Dames, the Golden Glow of Christmas Past, and the Edgewater Club of Oshkosh. She was an election poll worker for the Town of Algoma for forty years. Angie further kept busy by starting a real estate rental business. She purchased, maintained, and rented single family homes and duplexes.
Angie was a devoted wife, mother, and she was the world's best Grandma. Her grandchildren remember her baking (poppy seed bread, baked Alaska) and sewing countless doll clothes and blankets. Angie and Dick truly enjoyed doing things together-especially hosting and entertaining friends, spending time in Minocqua and traveling the world after Dick's retirement from UW-Oshkosh. Christmas time was special. Her home was filled with presents and over twenty decorated trees.
Angie is survived by and her memory will be cherished by her three children, Terese (Craig) Steffes of Wauwatosa, Shelia Fields of Sun Prairie and Michael (Shari) Turzenski of Pewaukee. She is also survived by five grandchildren; John Turzenski, Laura Turzenski, Michelle (Rhett) Nowotny, Anna (Andrew) Steffes and Noah Fields, along with two nieces, a nephew, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Earl Andrews.
