Angeline Delores Meidl's Obituary
Heaven received, with open arms, an extraordinary caregiver — Angeline D. Meidl. A devoted wife to her husband, John, and a loving mother to their seven children, Angie passed away on November 5th, surrounded by her family’s love. Angie was born on a Thanksgiving morning in 1932 to Jacob and Mary Paulick. She grew up surrounded by the love of her brothers Jacob and Dan and her sister Virginia, and later welcomed her younger sisters, Silvia and Gloria. Her siblings preceded her in death, and Angie became the last of her generation — a loving keeper of their shared memories and stories. As a young girl, Angie attended Sacred Heart School and remained a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church throughout her life. She graduated from Oshkosh High School and began working as a cashier before becoming an operator for Wisconsin Telephone. One evening at a neighborhood dance hall, her life was forever changed when she met a young man who would become her lifelong companion and soulmate – Jack. Their love blossomed even as Jack served in the U.S. Navy and traveled the country, and they were married in San Diego, California, on November 8, 1952. Side by side, they built a remarkable life together — a partnership filled with love, devotion, and countless cherished memories — just days away from what would have been their 73rd wedding anniversary. Shortly after they were wed, Angie and Jack welcomed their first son, Glenn, the beginning of their growing family. Not long after, Jack was deployed to serve on an aircraft carrier during the Korean War, leaving Angie to care for their young son on her own. Fortunately, Jack’s sister, Helen Rogers, and her husband, Jim, lived nearby, offering unwavering support and kindness to Angie — a generosity she always held close to her heart. After Jack’s return and honorable discharge, the young family moved back to Oshkosh. Jack built a successful career as a master sheet metal worker and later as a shop owner, while Angie devoted herself full-time to the important and beautiful work of raising six more children: Christine, Joseph, Lee, Mark, Jay, and Nanette — certainly a full and joy-filled household. Angie often said these were the happiest years of her life. Over time, their family grew to include twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, a testament to a life rich with love, laughter, and cherished memories. In retirement, Angie and Jack spent many winters in the sunny Palm Springs area, with a few children and grandchildren nearby. Though she missed the rest of the family during those months, the warm weather and the company of family close by made each season a true blessing.
Angie is survived by her husband of nearly 73 years, John (Jack), and her seven children: Glenn (Andrea), Christine Krause (Karl), Joseph (Kimberly), Lee (Tamara), Mark (Ruth), Jay (Melanie), and Nanette Meidl-Dobish (John). In addition, she is survived by twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, as well as her daughter-in-law, Tamara Meidl. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Eden Meadows Nursing Home and Moments Hospice for their loving care of Angie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Angie on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 11 am in St. Jude Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 519 Knapp Street in Oshkosh with the Rev. Louis Golamari as celebrant. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Angie — Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma — you were the heart of our family and the most beautiful part of our lives, and nothing in this world could ever take your place. God bless you.
