Arnold G. "Arny" Gafner's Obituary
Arnold G. Gafner, age 94, passed away peacefully in Parker, Colorado on July 23, 2020 surrounded by loving family members. Born to the late Fred and Marie (Minnig) Gafner in 1926, Arny served his country in the US Air Force during WW II. Upon returning to Wisconsin, he married the love of his life Margaret Louise Buehring on September 4, 1948. The couple was blessed with four children, Robert, Glen, Edward and Susan. Arny was a successful entrepreneur throughout his life. He recognized early that he would be happier working for himself than working for others. He owned a small farm and a service station in Wisconsin. In 1968 he sold everything and loaded up the family to move to Littleton, Colorado. While in Colorado, he earned his realtors license and started “flipping” houses long before HGTV made it a thing. In 1992 Arny and Marge, being fed up with snow, moved to Mesa, Arizona. Not ready to retire he continued to help others until he fell out of a tree in his 70's injuring his shoulder which forced him to slow down some. Arny lovingly cared for his wife until her passing in 2018. He will be sadly missed by all.
Arny is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his sons, Robert (Linda), Edward (Nancy); sisters, Florence Dickey and Ruth Denow; grandchildren, Cameron (Stacey) Gafner, Eric (Sarah) Gafner, Keely (Matt) Gohl, Stephanie (Cody) Miller, Chad Gafner, Jennifer and Sara De Long. He was preceded in death by children, Glen and Susan; siblings, Jake, Marie Kemmel, Fred, Walter, Helen Lord-Burr.
Funeral services for Arny will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Drive. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service. Social distancing and masks required. Burial will follow in Ellenwood Cemetery.
