Arthur Vernon Howard's Obituary
Arthur Vernon Howard, age 97, of Oshkosh passed away peacefully on Thursday December 19, 2024, at Bella Vista of Oshkosh, WI. He was born in Sugar Bush, WI on May 28, 1927, to Spencer & Eldora
(Arndt) Howard. He was married to Muriel (Pat) Conklin for 35 years before her passing in 1992. While going to widow support center he met Easter Langkau, and they spent 21 years together before her passing. Arthur worked at Rockwell International for 33 years as a job setter before retiring at the young age of 55. He served in the Navy during World War II on board the Aircraft Carrier Lexington from 1945 to 1947. Art had the love of outdoors where he enjoyed fishing and especially moose hunting in Canada. Later after retiring he traveled to many different parts of the U.S. and parts of Europe. Art was very active with the senior center where he learned to line dance.
Arthur is survived by his children Steve (Carol) Howard, Vickie (Paul)
Spaulding, Pamela (James) Ryckman, Jeffery Howard, Dorothy (Michael)
Widder, and grandchildren, Carrie, Josh, Joseph, Randall, Rachel, Brooke, Amy,
Emily, Sara and great grandchildren, Dakota and Bristol.
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Muriel (Pat), parents Spencer and Eldora, twin sisters Ethel Weitenbeck and Sylvia Larke, sisters Joyce Cook, Freida Spanbauer, Margaret Howard, Sadie Howard, Dorothy Howard and brother Harvey Howard. He was also preceded in death by his children, Scott Howard, Barbara Rees, Edward Rees and Randall Rees.
Arthur will be best remembered for telling jokes and dressing up in costumes for the holidays or by wearing funny hats just to put smiles on people’s faces.
Arthur’s family would like to extend their kind appreciation to the entire staff of Bella Vista and Bristol Hospice.
Funeral services for Arthur will be held in Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S Westhaven, Oshkosh) on Saturday December 28, at 4:00PM with the Rev. Robert Rosenberg officiating. Entombment with full Military Honors will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 PM until the hour of services.
