Beatrice R. Galow's Obituary
Beatrice R. Galow (Bea) age 93 of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully into eternal life September 13, 2021 at Evergreen Retirement Community.
Bea was born March 6, 1928 in Oshkosh, WI, the daughter of Eugene and Rose Hugger.
A life long resident of Oshkosh, she graduated from St. Vincent Elementary School in June 1943, and from Oshkosh High School, June 1946.
Bea always wanted to be a professional secretary and 2 weeks before her graduation from high school she was hired by Sister Antida as secretary to the pathologist in the laboratory of Mercy Hospital. She met her future husband Harold during her working hours as he was recovering from an operation. They were married June 25, 1949 in St. Vincent Catholic Church of Oshkosh, and celebrated their 63rd anniversary just 3 months before his passing on September 9, 2012.
Both Bea and her husband Harold were faithful members of St. Mary’s Church (Most Blessed Sacrament) of Oshkosh. It was here she served as President of the Parish Council of Catholic Women under the guidance of Reverend William Rickert. Also active in Camp Fire Girls she became a leader of her daughter’s group. Her most rewarding event because of this, gave her the honor to being a Delegate to the International Convention in Canada.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband Harold of 63 years, on September 7, 2012, her parents Eugene and Rose Hugger, and her sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Robert Fugleberg and other relatives.
Their marriage was blessed with 3 children: Dr. Timothy (Frances) Galow, Appleton, WI., Mrs. Theresa (Michael) Potter, Oshkosh, WI., Dr. Thomas (Meg) Galow, Oshkosh, WI. Grandchildren: Sean (Christina) Galow, Sun Prairie, WI., Dr. Timothy (Amy) Galow, Brookfield, WI., Drew (Melinda) Galow, Pewaukee, WI., Kaizie (Mike) Laak, Appleton, WI., Piersen (Lauren) Bowman, Neenah, WI., Kelsey Galow, Oshkosh, WI., Erin (Michael Kerr, fiancée) Galow, Duluth, MN. Her littlest Angels, Great Grandchildren: Emily, William, Calvin, Vivienne, Julia, Elise, Adeline, and Alexander.
Due to public health concerns, a private family funeral service has taken place. She was laid to rest beside her beloved husband Harold in the chapel of Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
Memorials will be established by her children but will include Lourdes school of Oshkosh, EWTN, Mother Angelica, and Paralyzed Veterans of America.
