Benjamin B. Hiebel's Obituary
Benjamin B. Hiebel, age 88, of Oshkosh, passed away on Tuesday evening, February 10, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on March 13, 1926 in Ripon, a son of the late Benjamin and Lillian (Kloehn) Hiebel. Ben moved to Joliet, IL when he was five years old and then moved to Santa Anna, California. In 1947 he moved to Oshkosh and opened a photography studio. On September 9, 1956 he married the former Nancy L. Pierce, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Pierce. The couple operated the Hiebel Studio together for 30 years of the 40 years in business. Ben retired in 1987 but could not handle not being with people so he worked at Westhaven Golf Course in the Pro Shop and photographed Warbirds of America at the EAA and then worked for 10 years as a security guard at Mercy Oakwood. He had also been a deputy sheriff for Winnebago County for many years and had also helped the new owner of Thompson Studio, his good friend, start a good business. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and who had the pleasure to work with him. He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his wife, Nancy and a daughter, Suzanne (Tim) Pitz , and a granddaughter, Stephanie, all of Oshkosh and his dear beautiful companion pet dog, Maddie. Per Ben’s wishes there will be no visitation, a private family service has been held. Burial will be in Liberty Prairie Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the:
