Bernard W. Books' Obituary
Bernard W. Books, age 82 of Oshkosh, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the Bethel Home in Oshkosh. On May 2, 1927 he was born in Oshkosh, the son of Lloyd and Sadie (Rothbart) Books. For 37 years Bernie worked for the City of Oshkosh Water Department as a serviceman. During the Korean War he served with the U.S. Navy. On May 24, 1952 he married Margaret Berger in Oshkosh. He was also a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He was a Green Bay Packer fan, and love to take bus trips with his wife and babysit his grandchildren.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of 57 years: Margaret; his son: Brian (Christine) Books of Oshkosh; his daughters: Linda (Russell) Nitz of Pickett, Diane (Terry) Schroeder and Laurie (Glen) Pollack both of Oshkosh; his grandchildren: Michelle (Scott Bierman) Nitz, Jacob Carrie) Nitz, Dominick Schroeder, Ethan Barthels, Ana Pollack, Noah, Nicholas, Katie and Melissa Books; his brother: Millard (Lenore) Books; his sisters: Phyllis Morgan, Ellen Befus and LaVern Cundy all of Oshkosh and his two great-grandchildren: Cami Nitz and Kallie Bierman. Besides his parents Bernie was preceded in death by brothers: Marion Books and Richard Books.
The family would like to thank the staff on 2-East at Bethel Home and the staff at Hospice Advantage for the care they gave Bernard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2009 in the Chapel of Bethel Home, 225 N. Eagle, Oshkosh, with Rev. Fr. Jim Jugenheimer as celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Thursday in the chapel. On condolances may be made at: fissbillspokasny.com
