Bernice Dickson's Obituary
Bernice E. Dickson (Bee) Bee died April 1, 2014 at age 81. She was very much loved by all her family. She was a great sister and even better aunt. Those she loved, she loved with all her heart (especially the babies). Bee is survived by her close friend Joan Stenberg, brother Arnold (Beulah) Dickson, sisters Shirley (Edward) Behm and Audrey Witkowski, and sister in law Ruth Dickson. Preceding her in death are parents Bruce and Audrey Dickson, brother Wallace Dickson, brother in law Andrew Witkowski and nephew Dan Eater. She has left behind first generation nieces and nephews: Chris (Don) Zemke, Susie Dickson, Jane (Paige) Danley, David Dickson, Julie (Tim) Little, Douglas (Diane) Dickson, Tom Behm, Sandy Eater, Steve Dickson, Dan (Jody) Dickson, Roxie (Mike) Wenzel, Jon Behm, Brian Dickson.The next generations extended out with twenty three great nieces and nephews, ten great great nieces and nephews and two great great great niece and nephew. Bee was born on 11/22/1932 in Ontario Canada. She lived her early life in Oshkosh WI. She earned her nursing degree and then lived and worked at hospitals in both Madison WI and Minneapolis MN. For thirty-eight years she worked at University of Minnesota Hospital as an Intensive Care Unit nurse until she retired. Not only did she nurse her patients with love and care, but Bee will long be remembered for her kind words, patience, love, and strength she displayed as she nursed family members with humility. Vacations were spent with family, usually near water where she loved to ski. She loved to travel especially to visit family, to Canada and to the Caribbean. Bee preferred cats to dogs. She enjoyed her green thumb gardening. Bee loved birds and ornithology, including being an official counter of migratory birds. She supervised children groups as they toured the Westwood Nature Center where she volunteered and has donated her whimsical “BEE BEE” bee collection. She adopted a whale, was fond of the opera, and continuing education where her last degree was earned from the University of Minnesota. Forever, we will all remember the excitement of the phrase “Bee’s coming!” Because she loved the Lord Jesus and her faith was unwavering, she has now gone home but will never be forgotten. A special high mass was held at her church -St Olaf's Church in Minnesota. A special memorial service is going to be held for family and friends at Poklasny Funeral Home at 870 W. South Park Ave, Oshkosh WI, on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11:30 am, the Rev Michael Worden officiating. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of services. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service.
