Betty Fisher's Obituary
Betty (Washburn) Fisher, age 83, of Oshkosh, passed away on January 24, 2014. She was born on December 30, 1930 in Omro,Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late George & Alma (Fritz)Washburn. Betty married Stanley Fisher on March 19, 1949 at St.Mary’s Catholic Church in Omro, Wisconsin. She was a military wife who traveled with her husband on many assignments in the U.S. and Europe. She was a craft-maker; including sewing, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, doll making, Christmas ornaments and stamping greeting cards. After her husband Stanley, retired, they purchased a motor home and traveled around the United States visiting many areas of the country. She was active in church organizations including Christ Child and helped prepare food for Lenten fish fries at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh, WI. For many years she and her husband traveled weekly to the Salvatorian Mission in New Holstein helping repack donated items to be sent overseas to missions.
She is survived by her husband Stanley of 65 years; 6 children,Greg (Margaret) of Allen, Tx; Teresa (Darrell) Schilling of Omro; Debora of Wichita, KS; Annette (Dusty) Conley of Crandon, WI; Angela (Phil) Hill of Oshkosh; and Alan of Oshkosh; sister Lois Weitz; 13 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren She is preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Carol, parents, George & Alma Washburn; Brothers Floyd and Melvin Washburn.
The viewing will begin at 9:00 am on Tuesday, January, 28, 2014 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, with the funeral service at 11:00 am. Lunch will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Salvatorian Missions, care of Brother Regis Fust, S.D.S,Missions Warehouse, New Holstein, WI 53061; 920-898-4736.
