Betty Mabel Groth's Obituary
Betty Mabel Groth, age 83, of Oshkosh passed away on February 26, 2026, at Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Kiel, WI on May 8, 1942, the daughter of the late Helmuth and Edna (Bratz) Boeldt. After high school she attended Manitowoc County Teachers College. Following that she taught in one room schools in School Hill and Louis Corners, Wisconsin from 1962-1964. She made an impact on several students so much that they sought her out decades later. On April 18, 1964, she married Donald L. Groth, Sr. Betty was employed at Oshkosh North as a custodian for many years and a faithful member of Bethany United Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with family. Betty was a self-taught oil and watercolor artist. Her art graced the walls of her home and those of her family members. She had a green thumb with indoor and outdoor plants and flowers. Betty is survived by two daughters, Laura (Dan) Lewis of Oshkosh and Lisa (Marc) Sahr of Apache Junction, AZ. One sister, Jane (Gary) Hanke of Plymouth. Two sisters-in-law, Judy Boeldt of Howards Grove and Jane Boeldt of New Holstein. Also, a very special friend, Dale Grasee for the last 22 years. Six grandchildren, Amanda (Keith) Wirch of Weyauwega, Robin Lewis of Cudahy, Sarah (Derick) Scherr of Oshkosh, Cory (Stacy) Lewis of Eau Clarie, Heidi (Andy) Lenzner of Oshkosh and Briana (Brandon) Miller of Neenah. Six great grandchildren, Riley, Brooklyn, Jayden, Grayson, Nicholas and Sage. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald in 2003 and one son Donald, Jr in 2011. Siblings Mabel (Kermit) Liermann of Valders; Lorraine (Marcus) Nagel of Valders; Fern (Willard) Leiteritz of Cleveland, Marion (Otto) Hartwig of Plymouth, Bernice (Dennis) Hasenstein of Sheboygan, Norman Boeldt of Howards Grove, Vernon Boeldt of New Holstein. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11 am at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home at 865 S. Westhaven Drive. Oshkosh, WI 54904. Rev. Deb Bartelt will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9 am until the time of service.
