Bobby Barthels' Obituary
Bobby E Barthels, age 85, of Oshkosh, died Monday January 18, 2016 at Eden Meadows in Oshkosh. He was born in Oshkosh on January 25, 1930 the son of the late Edward and Hilda Pollock Barthels. Bob married Shirley Selenka in Oshkosh on January 24, 1957 in Oshkosh. She preceded him in death on February 3, 2004. Bob served his country in The U S Army during the Korean War. He was employed by The Ed Tesch Construction Co. as a carpenter,and the Universal Foundry in Oshkosh in the maintenance department. After the foundry closed Bob was self employed as a carpenter, removed snow, and had several lawn mowing jobs until the fall of 2015. He enjoyed reading, watching the Packers, Brewers, and was fond of anything John Deere.
Survivors include two daughters; Carol (Jim) Poklasny, of Oshkosh, Kathy (Jeff) Hansen, Divide CO., one step-son; Mike (Marie) Selenka, Slinger WI., four grandchildren; Harv (Leah Guse) Meyer, Oshkosh, Leanne (Chad Franzen) Meyer, Oshkosh, Tiffany (Travis) Friskie, Rhinelander, and Zach (Brennen Boll) Barthels, Green Bay. Bob is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by one son; Robert Barthels, one sister; Francis Volkman, and very special friend; Ruth Slomski.
Funeral services for Bob will be held in The Poklasny Funeral Home (870 W South Park) at 12 noon on Saturday January 23, with Deacon Pat Gelhar officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
