Bruce D. Cameron's Obituary
Bruce D. Cameron, age 64 of Carmel, NY and Stuart, FL formerly of Oshkosh, passed away unexpectedly on a trip returning to New York on July 29, 2019.
Bruce graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1972 having participated in numerous choral groups and creating lifelong friendships. He attended UW Madison but left to pursue a career in the arts, first at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and then on to New York City as a sound designer /engineer. His work credits include The Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, the Joffrey Ballet, Masque Sound and Recording, Promix and working on Broadway with Lily Tomlin and Jackie Mason and various other shows. He started his own sound design business which lead to working industrial shows throughout the world the likes of APPLE, Canon, Diageo, Mary Kay, Pfizer, the Rockefeller Center tree lighting and too many others to list. He will be greatly missed by colleagues around the world who admired his work.
When Bruce wasn’t at work his varied interests kept him busy. Reading a wide variety of books and publications, flying his plane, boating at the Florida house or whipping up a delicious meal occupied his time. He and Tracy enjoyed taking in puppies to socialize them to be guide dogs. He was also a pilot for Angel Flight and Young Eagles. He greatly enjoyed time with friends and family uncorking a special bottle of wine.
He is survived by his wife Tracy; parents David and Carol Cameron; brother and sister-in-law, John and Gail Cameron; sister Julie Cameron and friend Don Kruse; and sister and brother-in-law Anne and Paul Gassere; nephews and nieces, Taylor Cameron, Kellyn Cameron and fiance’ Daniel Atkins, Spencer Gassere and Kate Gassere. Also survived by in-laws Douglas and Faye Crum and brother-in-laws Daniel Crum and Russell Crum. He was preceded in death by nephew Cameron Gassere.
A Celebration of Bruce’s life will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 2:00PM at Evergreen Retirement Community’s Chapel, 1130 N. Westfield. There will be a time to be together as family and friends following the service in the Fireside Lounge. Memorials are being established to benefit Guiding Eyes for the Blind, donate.guidingeyes.org and EAA Young Eagles, EAA.org.
The family extends our grateful thanks to the Canadian Search and Rescue, Civil Air Patrol and all the other agencies involved in bringing Bruce home.
It is beautiful to discover our wings and learn how to fly; flight is a beautiful process. But then to rest on the wings of God as He flies: this is divine.
