CARL JOHN STEARNS's Obituary
Carl J. Stearns passed away peacefully on December 18, 2016 at Bethel Home. He was born July 7, 1929 in Oshkosh to Eldor Stearns and Laura Smoody. He was united in marriage to Carol Luft on October 7, 1950. Carol preceded him in death on December 24, 1983. Carl served in both WWII and the Korean War with the Air Force. As a Staff Sergeant, Carl served in Antigua and British Guiana. He was also stationed in Oklahoma City and Nevada.
Carl had his own TV repair service and co-owned Dega/Stearns TV. He retired from the business in 1996, however he enjoyed working with TV’s for many more years. Carl spent his free time visiting with family and friends, volunteering with the Eagles Club, and tinkering around the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both sets of grandparents, and his brothers, David and Richard Stearns. He is survived by sons: Bruce (Susan), Mark (Sandra), Scott (Lisa) and Jeffrey Stearns. In addition, he is survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, along with sister-in- laws, June and Deanna Stearns.
Carl’s family would like to thank the staff at Bethel Home and Arborview for their care of Carl.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday February 3, at 10:30 AM in Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (St Mary worship site, Merritt and Monroe) with the Rev Jim Juggenheimer officiating. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the hour of services.
