Carl W. Ticks' Obituary
Carl W. Ticks, age 95, passed away at Country Villa in Omro on December 7th, 2025. He was born on May 2nd, 1930, in Zittau to the late Herman & Anna (Riedel) Ticks. In his early years he did farm work with his dad. Carl enlisted in the United States Air Force from April 1953 to April 1957. He served overseas at military bases in both Guam and Morocco as an airplane mechanic. Carl was known to say "I never flew on a plane that I had not worked on". He worked at Hardwood Products in Neenah, and then worked at Miller Electric in Appleton as a machinist, retiring in 1995 after 28 years. Carl was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Along with riding his bicycle and watching the birds at his feeders, he enjoyed playing cards and going on bus trips with his best friend, Sally Hielsberg, with whom he shared 25 years together before her passing in 2024. Carl valued hard work and education. He was always very interested in his grandchildren's jobs and stories that they would share, as family was the most important thing to him. Carl was incredibly proud of his family and all of their accomplishments.
Carl is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Charles) Roland, and his grandchildren Stephanie (Michael) Thompson and Bryce Roland. Carl was preceded in death by brothers, Louis & Edward, a sister, Edna Rasmussen, and Kelly's mom Janet Ticks.
Per Carl's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will occur at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Country Villa & Compassus Hospice for the care given to him these past 4 months.
