Carla Jean Danhauer's Obituary
Carla Jean Danhauer passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2017 at the age of 83. She was welcomed with open arms by her angel daughter, Jeanne Marie. Carla was born to Carl and Janice (Jean) Springborn on June 7, 1934. Carla found her calling early in life and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. Her first nursing job was working nights at Mercy Medical Hospital. She also worked many years at Evergreen Manor Care Center lovingly caring for the residents. She had a caring heart and a quick wit that carried her through life's challenges. She married her sweetheart, Raymond Danhauer, while he was home from Navy deployment on July 23, 1955 in St. Peter's parsonage. They have lived and raised their family in Oshkosh for over 60 years.
Carla loved to keep busy and the family has dozens of needlework pieces and beautiful quilts to show for it. She kept a thriving garden and she and Ray put up bottles of their famous sauerkraut, pickles, fruit, and preserves every year. She and Ray had many life-long friends, some of whom joined them on their daily 5 am walks through the park or shopping mall.
Carla is survived by her husband (Ray) and three children, David (Cathy), Cathy (Rex) Quilter, and Jim. She also leaves behind 7 loving grandchildren, Amber (James), Ryan, Eric, Kristen, Laura, Lisa, and David, great-grandchild, Lilly, and a sister, Sue (Jim) Sonnleitner.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 26, 2017 at 11 am at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home at 865 S. Westhaven Drive Oshkosh, WI 54904. Deacon Pat Gelhar will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 10 am till 11 am. Private committal services will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
