Carol Jean Schmidt's Obituary
Carol J. Schmidt, age 77, of Oshkosh passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on March 29, 1937 in Oshkosh, a daughter of the late George and Mary (Schuster) Hohenwalter. Carol married Carlton Schmidt on May 3, 1958. Carol greatly enjoyed cooking and spending time with her friends and family along with casino trips.
She is survived by and her memory will be cherished by three daughters, Linda O’Krueg, Barb (Darwin) Schwartz, Pam (George) Harrington, all of Oshkosh; a brother, Richard (Jane) Hohenwalter also of Oshkosh; sisters, Janet Zarter of Oshkosh and Jane (Al) McCormick of Appleton. She is further survived by five grandchildren, Andrew (Shaleen) O’Krueg, Amy (Josh) Bauling, Jeremy (Lorianna) Schmidt, Jason (Amy) Schmidt, Tanner Harrington; five great-grandchildren, Lilie, Dylan, Natalie, Natham and Madi; other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Carlton; two brothers, George and James.
Funeral services for Carol will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. The Rev. William VanDekreeke will officiate. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund will be established. The family would like to thank nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center for the kind and compassionate care that was extended to Carol and her family.
