CAROLYN YOUNGWIRTH's Obituary
Carolyn
Met Harrmann Youngwirth, age 91 of Oshkosh, passed away Sunday, February 15,
2015 at Park View Health Center due to kidney failure that stemmed from an
eight-year battle with polycystic kidney disease . Being the incredibly
resilient woman that she was, Carolyn fought the disease vigorously, but a
sudden case of the Influenza A virus weakened her immune system and she was no
longer able to compete with these complications. Up until her passing, she was surrounded
by the immense love and support of her family. In memoriam of Carolyn’s life,
we the family would like to illustrate a personal narrative to show just how special
she was, a delicate angel who was very near and dear to our hearts and the
hearts of those she touched. Born
January 23, 1924, the daughter of former Oshkosh superintendent Francis X.
Greenough and Ema (Wittlief) Greenough, Carolyn enjoyed music and playing
piano, reading, dancing, playing bingo, shopping, traveling, and celebrating holidays
with her family. She also had a twin sister, Catherine Dean, who was her best
friend. After
graduating from Oshkosh High School in 1942, she attended a women’s college in
Madison, majoring in business. Upon graduation, she worked in Washington D.C.
in a secretary pool for the war. She married Louis R. Harrmann on May 18, 1946,
who preceded her in death in 1984. She later married Franz Youngwirth
in April of 1994, who also preceded her in death in August of 1998. She had five children with Louis, survived
by Lucinda Sommers (Ken Thomas), Melinda (Tim) Johnson, Sandra
Harrmann Hays, Louis R. “Tige” Harrmann, and Stacy (Craig) Harrmann Stieg. She is survived by her 11
grandchildren: Rich (Sarah) Vargas, Kelly Bugalski, Angela (Brian) Sheehan),
Amy Taft, Emma Johnson, Hilary Harrmann Woldt, Zachary Denison, Riley Hays,
Chelsea Hays, Logan Formiller and Austin Formiller (Erica Luedke). Also survived by her are 16
great-grandchildren: Ricardo, JJ, Sam, Marco, Marissa, Brayden, Mary Kathryn,
Daniel Patrick, Echo, Tyler, Aveona, Gaven, Adalyn, Landon, Layahnah, and
LaNiya. She has one surviving brother, John “Jack” (Kac) Greenough in Florida.
Carolyn had several nephews and nieces, notably Rick, Janine and Francine,
who were dear to her heart. She is further survived by her birthday club friends: Dory, Jeane,
Arliegh, Betty and Doris. Preceding her in death are her
mother, father, sister Emogene McIntyre and a brother Richard. Also preceding
her in death are her friends Bev,
Ceil and Mar, along with her sister Catherine. A heartfelt thank you from the family to
Father Bill and Father Pat (Carolyn’s nephew) for their continued prayers and guidance through the years,
as she reached her journey into eternal life. We would also like to express our
sincerest gratitude for the staff at Park View Health Center, for the wonderful
care they have given to our angel over the years. There are many who have especially
impacted her life, like Annie, Lisa, Shannon, Mary, Diane, Kim, Megan, Laura,
Jen, Jim and her hairdresser Sue. Their love, friendship and services have been
greatly appreciated. We would also like to thank the
staff at the Dialysis Center of Fresenius Medical Care for the consistent
care and support they gave to her over the past eight years, especially their exceptional
efforts in the past several months. We appreciate their dedication to her
health and wellness. A memorial service will be held on
Sunday, February 22 at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home, located at 865 S.
Westhaven Dr. Friends and loved ones may greet the family from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.,
Sunday. Funeral services will take place at Sacred Heart Church at 1025 W. 5th
Ave. (corner of 5th and Knapp St.) at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February
23. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. This has been a difficult time for the family. She will sadly be missed by many, but we want everyone to know that she truly was the wind beneath our wings. In Carolyn’s own words, “This too shall pass.” Fiss& Bills fissbillspoklasny.com A memorial has been established
