Catherine L. DeWitt's Obituary
Catherine “Cathy” Leona DeWitt, 88, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Born on February 25, 1936, to Lester and Catherine Brenand in Winneconne, Wisconsin. Cathy was a radiant soul whose kindness and compassion touched everyone she met.
Cathy found her true love early on, marrying Vernon DeWitt on November 6th, 1956. Their love story was the foundation of a beautiful life together, raising their children Vernon DeWitt Jr. Doug DeWitt, and Kim Glausier. The love Cathy shared with her family was boundless, and her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the smell of something delicious baking in the oven. Sunday dinners were a cherished tradition, serving as a constant reminder of the importance of family and the strength of their bond.
In 1985 Vernon and Cathy sold their home and farm near Oshkosh and started a new life in Winter Garden, Florida. She dedicated 25 magical years to working at Disney World, a fitting place for someone who embodied joy, love and light. Cathy had a special way of making everyone feel like family. Her hugs were like home, warm comforting and full of love. No matter who stepped into her home, Cathy took care of them as if they were her own. Though small in stature, she was mighty in spirit; her strength, resilience, and unwavering generosity were unmatched. Cathy gave selflessly, especially to her family, pouring her heart into everything she did.
Cathy’s legacy of love lives on through her children: Vernon (Mary) DeWitt Jr. Doug (Wanda) DeWitt, and Kim (Bill) Glausier, her grandchildren: Billie Jo Kaler, Tiffany DeWitt, Joseph DeWitt, and Katelyn DeWitt, her great-grandchildren: Dessiea Kaler, Harlyn Kaler, Reagan DeWitt, and Reid DeWitt, her brother, Lester Brenand and sister Gwen Bartels and her special friend, Francis Sauer. She was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Vernon, her brother David Brenand, and her sister Lorraine Tritt.
A memorial service will be held on September 26th at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Oshkosh Wisconsin, where friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of this remarkable woman. Viewing will begin at 9:30 with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Cathy’s sweetness, her generous spirit, and her unfailing love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
