Charles Dake's Obituary
Charles Dake died peacefully January 31, 2022 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He was 79 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Katherine (Poellinger) Dake and his wife, Cynthia (Smith) Dake.
Charles was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on July 13, 1942 near the eastern shores of Lake Winnebago. After attending high school in Michigan, Charles served in the US Air Force, working in meteorology and weather at the North and South Poles and in Africa. Charles loved the open road, working and traveling across the United States for most of his life in a variety of professions.
He is survived by his five children-Dan, Britton, Ryan, Justin and Brandon. Charles is survived by grandchildren Brittany, Rowan, Indigo, Hailey, Stella, and great-grandchildren Ayden and Jaxon. He is also survived by his sister Karen Dake and his first wife and friend, Pat Tucker.
Charles was a life-long student, interested especially in physics, astronomy, meteorology and electricity. He shared his extensive knowledge and enduring passion for science and the natural world throughout his life with his family and friends.
Charles committed himself to a life of service and was a long-time volunteer for the Salvation Army and Feeding America. His commitment to caring for others is an enduring symbol of his kindness, compassion and dedication to serving humanity.
A celebration of life for Charles will be announced at a later date.
