Clara Helf's Obituary
Clara Helf, age 101, of Oshkosh passed away on Sunday June 1, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on March 31, 1913 in Lincoln, NE the daughter of John and Alice (Marker) Becker. Clara married James Wells until the time of his passing. She married Joseph Helf on February 4, 1946 and was happily married until Joe's death in 1980. She was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Mary's Church) and a member of Amvets Ladies Auxiliary. Clara enjoyed life; helping others, playing cards, watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Golf Channel. Clara loved gardening and spent many hours tending the roses and other flowers at Marion Manor where she lived for over 30 years. Spending the last 3 years at Bethel home Clara enjoyed Bingo, Wii Bowling, playing cards and the many outings she was able to go on with other Bethel residents. Clara worked many jobs throughout her life. During the war she was employed at United States Motor Corporation and at the time of retirement Clara was a sales clerk/buyer at Gertrude's Town Shop. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; John, Ralph, Harold and Eugene Becker and sisters; Leah Domer and Esther Kohler. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, their children and many friends. She is loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 6, 2014 at 11am at the Poklasny Funeral Home 870 W. South Park Ave. Oshkosh, WI 54902. Father William Van De Kreeke will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 10am until the time of service. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Clara's name. Thank you for the wonderful attention given to Clara by the many employees at Bethel Home.
