Clara Ilk's Obituary
After a long struggle with Alzheimers, Clara Ilk, age 97 passed away peacefully on April 22, 2012 at Lakeshore Manor with her daughter and grandaughter, Jamie at her side. She was born on Oct. 21, 1914, the daughter of Adolph and Alvina Hoffmann. She married Lawrence Ilk on June 13th, 1937 at Sacred Heart Catholic church with the Rev. Gerald Ilk officiating. They were married for 68 years before he preceded her in death on November 25, 2005.
Clara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She spent her life caring for her family. She enjoyed cooking, cards, watching TV and feeding anyone who came to visit. She will be lovingly remembered.
She is survived by her daughter, Gretchyn (David) Weisgerber, Winneconne, her grandchildren, Julie (Dave) Flanagan, Miami, Florida, Lori (David) Kane, Middleton, Jamie (Doug) Hansen, Oshkosh, and David Weisgerber, Jr., Winneconne. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Beau Flanagan, Noah and Sabrina Hansen, Maggie Mae Kane and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Irma Jacobson, Ethel Rehwinkel, Maybelle Niederstadt, two brothers, Kenneth and Carlton Hoffmann and one sister-in-law, Marian Hoffmann.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne (210 Pleasant Dr.) with Rev. Doug LeCaptain and Sr. Pamela Biehl officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 until the time of the 2:00 Memorial Mass.
A very special thank you to all the many devoted caregivers and staff at Lakeshore Manor who were so loving, caring and compassionate and made her a part of their family for the last 6 1/2 years. They are angels on earth.
Another special thank you to Hospice Advantage. Jeff, who was with her at the beginning and the end, Becky for anticipating her physical and emotional needs, and especially Shirlene, her Hospice CNA who had such a beautiful bond with Clara and loved her like her own mother. You all were a blessing during her final days.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Clara's name to the Alzheimers Association
