Clarence H. Westfahl, 92, of Oshkosh passed away on September 23, 2013 at Parkview Health Center. He was born July 18, 1921 in the town of Chilton in Calumet County, the son of Herman and Emma Westfahl. Clarence married Florence E. Ostertag on November 27, 1952.
He graduated from Chilton High School in 1940 and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1948 with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Agricultural Education. He was employed by the UW Extension for 30 years as a 4-H and youth agent in Winnebago County, retiring in 1978. Clarence actively promoted youth citizenship development and programs for urban and disadvantaged youth, developed a series of training programs for new 4-H leaders, and helped coordinate a statewide 4-H expansion program. He received the Distinguished Service Award in 1960 from the national 4-H agents association and the UW Honor Award in 1969 from the UW Extension Department of Youth Development. He also held membership in the Wisconsin 4-H Agents Group and Epsilon Sigma Phi, a national fraternity with educational objectives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday Sept. 27, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle (formerly St. Vincent Catholic Church), 1225 Oregon St, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Fr. William Van de Kreeke as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Wisconsin 4-H Foundation, The Pyle Center, 702 Langdon St., Madison, WI 53706-1420.
