Clark A. Seibold's Obituary
Clark Arthur Seibold, 84 of Oshkosh passed away peacefully at Aspire Senior Living facility on Friday, April 5, 2024. He was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on March 24, 1940, the son of Clarence and Charlotte (Oelschlager) Seibold. Clark graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1959, worked with the Soo Line Railroad from 1960-1966 during which time he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve and served as a Staff Sergeant from 1963–1968.
Clark married Helen Sitzberger (ex-wife) in 1963 and they had two beautiful girls together. On February 1, 1966 he joined the Oshkosh Fire Department and spent 29 years of his life dedicated to protecting and serving the community, retiring his firefighting career as Captain, on April 1, 1995.
Clark remarried to the love of his life, Karen A. Kroening on April 26,1975, at Peace Lutheran Church of Oshkosh where he was a member and later also attended St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Menasha, WI. Younger Clark enjoyed sailing, Honda motorcycles, and fast cars.
In semi-retirement, Clark was contracted by Oshkosh Truck Corporation in the Defense Department to assist the U.S. Government as an Assistant Instructor and trainer on the MTVR for operations where he trained U.S. Marines in Camp Lejuene, NC and Camp Pendleton, CA from 1997-2012. Clark also had the honor of proudly serving on the Oshkosh Police and fire Commission from 2009-2023.
In retirement Clark enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow, going to casinos, firearms and gun-shows, fast cars, and loved military history. He was named after his uncle, Champ Clark Seibold who played for the Green Bay Packers from 1933-1942, and Clark was a lifelong Packer fan.
Clark will be forever cherished and remembered by his two daughters, Kellie (Mark) Showers and Carrie (Daniel) Roland; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; Nichole (Steven II), Rylee, Steven III Casper; Chelsea (Santo), Sophia Morales and Ryan Showers. Sister-in-law, Carol Seibold; Sister-in-law Bonnie (Robert) Olson; brother-in-law, Norbert Kroening II; nieces, Lisa, Pam and Sutton Seibold; nephews, Michael and Paul Esslinger; Mark and Lance Olson; and additional loved nieces and nephews from first marriage.
The family wishes to expresses a sincere thank you to Carol Hert and “Stonie” Mengel for the love and loyal friendship over the years.
Clark was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen of 35 years; two siblings, Carol Esslinger and Stanley Seibold; brother-in-law, Joseph Esslinger; sister-in-law, Gloria Kroening; grandson, Shannon Clark Showers; nephews, Ted and Norbert “Trip” Kroening III and his 5 beloved dogs.
Funeral Services for Clark will be held on Saturday April 27, 2024 at Fiss and Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S. Westhaven Dr.) at 12:00 pm. A time for visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at the Funeral Home on Saturday.
