Dana G LAWLER's Obituary
Dana G Lawler, age 74, of Oshkosh, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Oshkosh May 31, 1948 the son of the late Charles D ''Red” and Dorothy G (Gerhardt) Lawler. He graduated in 1966 from Oshkosh High School.
Dana Married Sandra L (Kienert) on July 13, 1968. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of devoted service. There they had the opportunity to live in many different places, among them were Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Hawaii, Germany and Okinawa. He continued his distinguished work ethic and retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections in Boonville, after 20 years of dedicated service.
In retirement Dana continued work at the family business ( Red's Pizza ) which gave him great enjoyment. Dana was a talented chef, world traveler, avid golfer, card player, fisherman and hunter. He also belonged to the Elks, the Free Masons, Shriner's, and the KB Club in Oshkosh.
Dana is survived and forever remembered by one son; Brian C (Jennifer) Lawler, of Pacific Mo.; one daughter; Brenda L O'Grady, of Kansas City Mo.; three grandchildren; Brian D Jenkins Jr., Aidan O. Lawler, Reilly L Lawler, two brothers; Steve C. Lawler, Oshkosh, Gary F. (Winnie) Lawler Neenah, WI, two sisters; Pamela J (Stan) Meyer, Oshkosh, and Susan L Schimke, Oshkosh; special friend and companion; Mary K Brockman. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Dana was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Sandra L (Kienert) Lawler, parents Charles D “Red” Lawler and Dorothy G (Gerhardt) Lawler, two brothers; Carl L “Butch” Cihlar Sr. and Michael D Lawler.
Celebration of life for Dana with full military honors will be held at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S, Westhaven Dr. Oshkosh WI) on Saturday January 21, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. With Reverend Grant Baumgart officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service. Remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends and sent to Fiss& Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home.
