Darlene Benson's Obituary
Darlene Marie Benson, age 55, of Oshkosh, formerly of Escanaba, MI, passed away after a courageous three year battle with cancer on Monday, February 16, 2009. She was born on February 26, 1953 in Escanaba a daughter of the late Clayton Marvin and Lucille Marie (Irving) Lehman. Darlene married Gary B. Benson on June 26, 1971 at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Escanaba, MI. Gary preceded her in death on January 3, 2008. She was member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Oshkosh and had worked for Aurora Medical Center until her health no longer allowed. Darlene greatly enjoyed her family, her grandchildren and friends and especially time spent with her "dinner girls".
Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Torrie (Keith) McAlevy of Wonder Lake, Illinois; two grandchildren, Mason Eric and Lucille Lynn; four brothers, Gary (Rebecca) Lehman, Jack (Barb Caswell) Lehman, Keith (Cindy) Lehman and James Milkovich, all of Escanaba, Michigan. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and her companion dog, Marley.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1860 Wisconsin Street in Oshkosh with Pastor Kemp Jones officiating. There will be no visitation, the family will greet those in attendance immediately following the service. Inurnment will be in Gardens Of Rest Cemetery in Wells, Michigan.
