David L. Conger's Obituary
David L. "Dave" Conger, age 71, of the Town of Winneconne, in car #20, in his final race, proceeded from the caution and into the green and took the checkered flag on the last lap at his home on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Dave was born on February 16, 1941 in Oshkosh a son of the late Leslie A. and Shirley M. (Strey) Conger. He married the former Mary Jane Schroeder on November 10, 1962. Dave had worked for Barney's Wrecker Service and then Automotive Supply Co. for 25 years along with founding and owning/operating Winnebago Liquid Waste. He greatly enjoyed stock car racing and was the "car to watch" at Leo's Speedway for years driving car # 20 The Outlaw. Nascar racing of course was also a passion of Dave's. He was a member of the Fox Vettes Corvette Club, the Elks Club #292 for 30 years, TPA for 44 years and was a member of the Fox Valley Racing Club.
His memory will be cherished by his wife Mary Jane of 50 years of Winneconne; a son, Jeffrey (Ashley) Conger of Oshkosh; a daughter, Connie (Keith) Kreutzberg of Neenah; he is also survived by several siblings; six grandchildren, Casey, Wyatt and Kate Conger; Brad Conger; Kayla and Kyle Kreutzberg. Dave is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends, especially those who stopped by the "Toy Box".
Funeral services for Dave will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 7p.m. in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. in Oshkosh. A time of visitation and support will be held for the Conger family at the funeral home on Friday from 2p.m. until the time of service. The family requests that in lieu of floral offerings that memorials in Dave's name be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
