David John Mathe's Obituary
David John Mathe, age 75, of Glidden, formerly of Oshkosh, died on Monday October 4, 2021 at his home. He was born on July 9, 1946 in Oshkosh, the son of Norbert and Delores (Kloiber) Mathe. After his schooling he entered the United States Navy, serving his country during the Vietnam War from 1964-1968. David worked for A.P. Nonweiler Company and as a cabinet maker before working for Oshkosh Truck until his retirement. On February 4, 1989 he married Diane (Stutz) Voight. The couple moved to Glidden in 2010. David was a lifetime member of the Glidden VFW and American Legion, a president of the Glidden Lions Club, and a volunteer for Catkins Animal Rescue. He was an avid hunter & fisherman, enjoyed watching the Packers and traveling, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Diane of Glidden, (6)children: William (Becky) Voight of North Dakota, Thomas (Jamie) Voight of Ripon, Kathryn (Chuck) Nourse of Oshkosh, Eric (Becky) Mathe of Oshkosh, Jeffrey (Ray) Wyatt of Sheboygan, and Sheri (Tom) Beacham of Oshkosh, (11)grandchildren, (16)great-grandchildren, his sisters-in-law: Nancy (Robert) Jungwirth, Joni Stutz, and Linda Mathe, both of Oshkosh, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Michael Mathe, and brothers-in-law Jim and Jerry Stutz.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Glidden VFW Hall on Saturday October 9, 2021 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm. Military honors will be held at 4:00pm.
A memorial visitation will also be held at the Poklasny Funeral Home on South Park Avenue in Oshkosh on Monday October 11, 2021 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm with a memorial service at 5:00pm. Rev. Tim Greenwald will officiate. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Catkins Animal Rescue in Park Falls would be greatly appreciated.
