David L. Merten's Obituary
David L. Merten, age 61, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2013. He was born on August 17, 1952 a son of the late Lester E. and Laverne J. (Wilke) Merten. David was a member of First English Lutheran Church. He was known and will be remembered by friends and family for buying new cars every year. He had worked for Kossel’s TV and Appliance for 18 years until his health no longer allowed. David greatly enjoyed his work at Kossel’s. David was also a computer applications consultant and developed the Merten Mobile Web App. Development.
He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his sister, Shari (Scott Stenerson) Schroeder of Oshkosh; step mother, Pat Merten of Oshkosh and her children, Steve Drumwright and Susan Botts. He is further survived by two godchildren, Jeremy and Jason Hansen; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services for David will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Drive in Oshkosh. The Rev. Timothy Greenwald will officiate. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. The family wishes to thank the staff at Res Care, Clarity Care and Lakeland Care for the excellent care and concern that allowed David to stay in his home.
