Deborah Ann Bauernfeind-Kurczek's Obituary
Deborah A. Bauernfeind-Kurczek, of Newton, NC, formerly of Oshkosh, passed away from heart complications, surrounded by her family. She was born in Oshkosh, WI on September 26, 1970, the daughter of William and Kathy (Parr-Grimm) Bauernfeind. She married Ike Kruczek on May 29, 1999 and they had two daughters, Gabriella Kurczek and Lily-Rose Kurczek. Deborah attended Oshkosh North High School and graduated from UW-Stevens Point with a degree in Secondary English Education and a masters degree in English as a Second Language at the University of Memphis. She was a beloved high school English teacher and a wonderful mother. She enjoyed writing poetry, reading books from Shakespeare to Zora Neale Hurston, being out in nature, she loved to swim and greatly enjoyed spending time with her family. Deborah enlisted during Operation Desert Storm, serving with the US Army for four years of active duty, working in communications.
She is survived by and her memory will be cherished by her husband, Ike; two daughters, Gabriella and Lily-Rose Kurczek; one brother, Nicholas Bauernfeind; her father, William Bauernfeind; mother, Kathy Grimm; mother and father-in-law, Kay and John Kurczek; sister-in-law, Jenny Pierre; nieces, Ellie and Macy Patza. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends made across the years. She was preceded in death by her grandma, Irene; her aunt, Mary Pokrandt; her cousin, Mary-Jo Davis and her uncle, James Bauernfeind.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Deborah on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 11:00 am in St. Jude Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh, (corner of 6th and Knapp Streets), burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund is being established.
