When I think back on my childhood, I remember how I used to come over to Dolly’s back door to see if Carol could play. I can still recall cupping my hands against the screen door and feeling a bit nervous to ask for Carol. Dolly would always firmly remind me that there were chores to be finished first, and she would give me a specific time to return. She certainly ran a tight ship!
Once I had children of my own, I grew to deeply respect how Dolly raised her family. I realized how important it was that she involved everyone in household tasks. Her children all grew up to be such wonderful, hardworking adults, and I truly admire the foundation she built for her family and the legacy she has left.
