Donald E. Jungwirth's Obituary
Donald Edgar Jungwirth, age 95, passed away June 19, 2021.
Donald was born May 17, 1926, in Oshkosh, to parents Frank and Alfrieda. He graduated from Oshkosh High School and attended Oshkosh College (UWO). Donald married Judith (Leib) on May 7, 1949, in Oshkosh. They were married for 55 years. From 1944-1946, Donald served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was hired at Rockwell International in 1951 and retired after 30 years, in 1981. He was an avid fisher / hunter, as well as a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs and he also loved working in the vegetable and flower garden and enjoyed bowling.
Donald was a member of the American Legion Cook Fuller Post 70, Last Man’s Club, Otter Street Fishing Club and the Winnebago Conservation Club. Donald was a volunteer at Wisconsin Axle Credit Union and a retired member of the United Automobile Workers (UAW #231).
Donald was preceded in death by his wife Judy, parents; Frank and Alfreida Jungwirth, brother; Ralph (Bud) Jungwirth, Brothers-in-law; Richard Mathe, Tom Leib, Ronald (Rock) Leib and Jerry Leib, Sisters-in-law; Pat Leib and Nina Leib-Buch and special friend, Jane Matejowec.
Survivors include two children; Lynn (Terry) Meyer and Christine (Dennis) King, four grandchildren, Bryce (Jennie) Meyer, Amy (Dan) Treuter, Adam (special friend Carrie Wegehaupt) King and Lucas (Sara) King. He is further survived by four great-grandchildren; Riley Meyer, Madelynn Meyer, Levi King and Xavier King, Sister-in-law; Janice Mathe and many nieces and nephews.
Donald’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Elijah’s place, Eden Meadows and the Aurora Hospice staff for their great caretaking.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in Donald's name.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday June 23, 2021 at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S. Westhaven Dr. Oshkosh WI 54904) at 11:00 AM. A time for Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial and military honors will be held at Lake View Memorial Park, following the funeral service Wednesday June 23, 2021.
