Donald L. "Buddy" Sieger's Obituary
Donald L. “Buddy” Sieger, age 87, of Oshkosh, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 2, 2021. He was born on June 9, 1933 in Waukau, a son of the late Henry and Marie (Sawyer) Sieger. Don proudly served his country in the US Army in the Korean War. Don married Mary Ann Kallin on April 14, 1956 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Mary Ann preceded him in death on June 9, 2016. Don and Mary Ann were “two peas in a pod” and greatly enjoyed polka dancing, playing cards, bingo, traveling and Sunday dinners with their children. Don had worked for Oshkosh Truck Corp. and for many years he repaired bikes at his home and also loved gardening. He was a proud member of the United Veterans Honor Guard of Oshkosh.
Don is survived by and his memory will be cherished by two sons, Michael (Lori) and Steven (special friend Cindy), both of Oshkosh; three daughters, Paula (Terry) Henkel, Barbara (Steve) Drager, both of Oshkosh and Gail (special friend Steve) Schwerin of Larsen; a brother, Orv Sieger of Oshkosh; a sister, Darlene Wetterau of Oshkosh. He is further survived by eight grandchildren, Tony and Timmy (April) Miller, Kelly (Casey) La Marche, Andy Drager, Bryan (Stephanie) Drager, Justin, Ryan and Jamie Schwerin; seven great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Willow, Keanan, Nolan, Adeline, Nora and Elouise; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many dear friends. He was preceded in death by a number of siblings.
Due to current pandemic situation, a private family Mass of Christian Burial was held for Don at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by full military honors by the United Veterans Honor Guard as he was laid to rest next to his beloved Mary Ann at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Oshkosh. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the hospice nurses and all nursing staff at Park View Health Care Center Prairie Side 1 for all of the extra special care that was extended to Don.
