Donald C. Patt's Obituary
Donald C. Patt, age 94, of Oshkosh, passed away on June 25, 2024 at Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh. He was the first of three sons born at St. Mary's Hospital in Oshkosh to Charles and Marie (Baerwald) Patt. Don attended school in Van Dyne and then worked on the family farm. He worked as a Glazer at Morgan Door Co. for many years and following Morgan he worked for Battis Brothers Supply Co. and finished his working career at Oshkosh North High School as a custodian. Don was united in marriage to Elaine M. Wesenberg on June 10, 1950 in Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Elaine “Toots” was the love of his life and they enjoyed nearly 72 years together before her passing on May 25, 2022. Don was a member of the SSIYC for 50 plus years and served on their Board of Directors and enjoyed bar tending there and he kept his fishing boat in their harbor for over 50 years. Don and Elaine played in the club's cribbage league for nearly 20 years. He proudly taught all five of his children and many of his grandchildren how to play also. Don learned to love fishing and boating on Lake Winnebago as a child. He was always striving to catch his limit ! Sturgeon spearing was also a passion of his. Don and Elaine had many perch fish frys with friends and family. Don will also be remembered for enjoying hunting and spending time at their land in Adams-Friendship with Elaine and their family. Dad was a Green Bay Packer fan and an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan. He was a lifetime member of the Otter Street Fishing Club and attended Sturgeon for Tomorrow Banquets.
Don is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his five children, Rosemary (Dave Hansen) Schoblaske, Cheryl (Gary) Schoenberger, Jeff (Tom Perzentka) Patt, Mike (Cathy) Patt and Laurie (Jim) Kleveno. He is further survived by 10 granchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Patt and Leo (Ruby) Patt; a brother-in-law, Alan (Arlene) Wesenberg as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Don was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Schoblaske; brothers-in-law, Ronald, Glenn and Raymond Wesenberg; sisters-in-law, Lois Sosinski and Nancy Sepanski.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 5:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Church, 240 W.9th Avenue in Oshkosh. Burial will be with his beloved Elaine in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 3 pm until the time of service. In lieu of floral expressions, a number of memorials will be established in his name.
The family would like to thank Don's caregivers from Senior Helpers, especially “Big Mike” and the “Little Twin” Stephany for allowing Dad to stay at home. Dad you will be dearly missed by your five “thoroughbreds”, but we are truly happy that you are now reunited with our Mom. We know you two are having “FUN, FUN, FUN”.
