Donald T. Schneider's Obituary
Donald T. Schneider, age 76, went home to the Lord un-expectantly on Tuesday, November 1st, 2016.
Don was born at home on November 9th, 1939 to William and Caroline (Fischer) Schneider.
He went to Sacred Heart Grade School, and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1957.
After high school Don joined the National Guard for six years and was awarded the Sharp Shooter medal.
He married Beverly (Griedl) his bride of 58 years on September 6, 1958. They had three children, thirteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Don was employed at 7 Up Bottling Co., Morgan Door Co., and lastly Triangle MFG Co.
In 1978 Don became a quadriplegic due to a diving accident. With his faith in God, family, and friends Don was able to live a fulfilled life. He was an elder in two churches, led Bible studies, and was an Aglow advisor. Don enjoyed sharing his faith with others.
Don was able to “walk” his two daughters down the wedding aisle and was best man at his son’s wedding.
His family encouraged him to continue in the activities he loved. He was an avid sportsman, especially deer hunting. Don shot his last deer bow hunting on October 2, 2016. He was able to fish and tie flies, turkey hunt, and reload and target shoot.
He left behind many wonderful paintings for his family to treasure.
On the lighter side, his other favorite things to do were decorating Christmas cookies, Easter egg coloring, and traveling out west to see his daughter with his directionally challenged family.
Don is survived by his wife Beverly (Griedl) Schneider, daughters Joan (Randy) Miller of Oshkosh, and Mary Beth (Tim) Girard Littleton, Colorado, and Leslie (Kevin) Tierney.
Grandchildren left behind are Jason Girard, Kelly Girard, Kerry Miller, Lisa Balthaser, Douglas Miller, Jessica Miller, Jaime Miller, Joel Schneider, Kevin Schneider, Lauren Springhetti, Megan Schneider, Noelle Schneider, and Isaac Schneider.
Great-grandchildren left behind are Christian, Josie, Lilly, Jayden, Xavier, Zander, Jacob, Hanna, Sarah, Daniel, Aubrey, and Gabriella, the newest arrival on November 2, 2016, who missed her grandpa by one day.
Don is survived also by one sister-in-law, Elaine Schneider, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, one son Douglas, five brothers William, Hubert, Joseph, George, and Henry (Tom). Four sisters Gertrude, Louise, Ann, and Rose.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped Don live his life to the fullest. We would also like to thank the staff at Mercy Medical Center for their compassion and kindness, especially his nurse Katie.
Till we meet again…Have fun storming the castle!
