Doris M. "Grumpy" Kalbus' Obituary
Doris Mae “Grumpy” Kalbus, age 82, of Coloma formerly of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2018. She was born on September 21, 1936 in Oshkosh, the fourth daughter Rose and Harvey Roebke. Doris grew up and spent most of her life in Oshkosh. On October 22, 1960 she married Harvey A. Kalbus Jr. and they were blessed with three children. Doris was a devoted wife and mother and created a loving and friendly home for her family. Although her nickname was “Grumpy” from childhood, it was mostly smiles and laughter that filled her home. If you didn't find Doris “Grumpy” and Harvey at home, and depending on what time of year it was...you would more than likely find them out on Lake Winnebago in their favorite fishing spots, with Mom needing to catch the most perch, or up at the “deer shanty”, trying to bag that perfect buck. Doris and Harvey moved to Coloma, Wisconsin after Harvey's retirement. It was here that they were able to be closer to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always looked forward to the time they spent with them. May it be going to a softball game, concert or just coming over to grandmas to hang out.
Doris will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Harvey A. Kalbus. Her three children, Mark (Judy) Kalbus; Theresa (Alan) Lee and Ann Kalbus; grandchildren, Jessie (Brian) Kalbus, Morgan Kalbus, Mason Lee, Conner Lee, Aubrey (Chris) Conklin, Allie Daniels and Aaron Daniels; great-grandchildren, Teagan and Wyllow, Makayla and Miya, and Tatum and Ty. Her sisters, Noreen Schumacher, Joann Pommerening, Lois Seidl and her brother, Ronald “Butch” (Val) Roebke. She is further survived by many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Rose and Harvey A. Roebke; mother and father-in-law, Harvey and Edna Kalbus; a sister-in-law, Mary Roebke and brother-in-laws, Mike Schumacher, Gene Pommerening and David Seidl.
Funeral services for Doris will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Avenue in Oshkosh. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 pm until the time of service. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
