Dorothy Ruland's Obituary
On January 17th, 2014 our dear Aunt, Dorothy M Ruland, died at the age of 92 years young. She was born in Oshkosh, September 1st, 1921, the daughter of Frank and Julia Ruland. Dorothy graduated from Oshkosh High School then the Oshkosh Business College. Her first position upon graduation was as a secretary at C.A. Neuberger Co. She later took a position as legal secretary at Wisconsin National Life Insurance Company where she retired after 26 years as Secretary of the Board of Directors.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers Edgar Ruland and Lawrence Ruland and sisters Alice Ruland (Diemer) and Marcella Ruland (Warner), also loving niece Sharon Ruland (Fox). She is survived and will be forever missed by nieces, Rosemary Diemer (Peotter), Lenore Warner (VanderLoop), Gloria Warner (Hansen), Marsha Warner (Schneider) Julie Warner (Burr), Janet Warner (Elsinger) and nephew David Ruland.(Paula). She is further survived and loved by many great nieces and nephews.
A devout Catholic all her life she was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh, where she sang in the choir for many years.
With her wide circle of friends she enjoyed extensive travel in the US and abroad. She was a member of the 20th Century Club, Bible Study groups, and the Birthday Club.
In addition she volunteered for many years at Mercy Medical Center. She also served on various boards and committees on the Evergreen Campus where she resided since 1998.
Please join us in celebrating Dorothy's life on Thursday, January 23 at St. Jude the Apostle Church (Sacred Heart Church on the corner of 6th & Knapp). Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. followed by Mass with celebrant Father Michael Warden.
Memorials may be directed to St. Vincent de Paul Society or the Day-by-Day Warming Shelter.
