Douglas J. Zernzach's Obituary
Douglas James Zernzach, age 65 of Wautoma, former Oshkosh resident, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 in Wild Rose Manor in the loving arms of his wife, Laurie. On November 13, 1943 he was born in Oshkosh, the son of John and Violet (Witt) Zernzach. Doug was a sergeant at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh law enforcement for many years. He loved the outdoors, taking trips to Canada and spending time on the water. Fulfilling his ambition to live in a log cabin, building it in Wautoma. He also volunteered with the Department of Aging in Waushara County. On January 11, 1966 he married Barbara Ostertage. Together they have had three children: Jim (Lisa) Zernzach, Robin and Ryan Zernzach. His three grandchildren are: Carley, Chris and Christian. He then married Laurie Verette on July 14, 2004 in Wautoma. Her children also survive. They are: Josh, Jeremy (Sarah) and Jessie Compton and his one step-grandson: Evan Compton. Also surviving are his siblings: Dr. Rudolph (Anne) Zernzach, John (Nola) Zernzach, Lois Gaines, Patricia Boyd, Violet (Jim) Metz, Gloria (Hank) Farr and Victoria (Grant) Bayer
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2008, in the Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park, Oshkosh, with Rev. Fr. Doug LaCaptain officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may greet the family from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., Monday in the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at: fissbillspoklasny.com.
