Duane J. "Butch" Hanneman's Obituary
Duane J. "Butch" Hanneman, age 84, of Oshkosh, went to be with his savior on Saturday, July 18, 2026. He is survived by a son, Kurt (Sara) Hanneman and one grandchild Caleb Hanneman (Liam Wilson) and siblings, Sue (Tom) Sullivan, Tim (Barb) Hanneman and Doug (Vicki) Moon plus many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 57 years, Ruth, best friend Eddie Cleveland, dog Stitch, and friends and family who made his life full and wonderful. Duane was a hard worker and had been employed by Badger Lumber , Bemis Corporation and Paul Jensen & Son over the years. He was also an entrepreneur for a time and owned The Resale Shop. He was most often found in his garage woodshop and was a talented woodcrafter blessing many with his creations. He loved a good western, the Milwaukee Brewers, a game of gin with his sister and his annual visit to California to see his brother.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 12 noon in Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church in Oshkosh and will be officiated by Pastor Steinbrenner. A lunch will follow. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10 am until the time of service. Memorials will be directed to those causes he was passionate about or that impacted him most. Until we meet again, we will cherish our many happy memories.
