EARL EDWARD HANSEN's Obituary
On November 1, 2017 our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother peacefully entered the arms of his Lord and was finally reunited with his wife and the absolute love of his life, Carol.
Earl was born on March 22, 1929 in Oshkosh, WI to Molly (Detlaff) and Earl Hansen. He faithfully served his country in the Army as a Private First Class from 1951-1953. On May 7, 1955 he was married to Carol Ganzyk and they were blissfully married for 53 years until her passing in 2008.
Earl was a hard worker laying carpet for 25 years before joining the Post Office where he worked for 15 years before retiring. He loved attending church, volunteering at Father Carr’s, riding his bike, tending garden, fishing, hunting, and sitting in the sun enjoying a Manhattan while listening to the Packer game. Earl was kind, caring and gentle. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him especially his 7 children, 15 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Earl is survived by his children, David (Kathy) Hansen, Mike (Gloria) Hansen, Mary (Joseph) Poklasny, Andy (Amy) Hansen, Tony (Terry) Hansen, Ann (John) Fickau, Peter (Michelle) Hansen his grandchildren Christopher (Candice) Hansen, Andrew Poklasny, Rachel Hansen, Maggie (Andy) Hanneman, Jake Hansen, James Hansen, Keri Fickau, Luke Hansen, Eric Hansen, Sara Hansen, McKenna Hansen, Christian Fickau, Isaac Fickau, Jonathan Hansen, Grace Fickau and great grandchildren Morea Hansen, Westley Hansen, and Cora Hansen.
He is further survived by his sisters Hope Marin and Carol Sitzberger.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Molly and Earl Hansen, two brothers Tom Hansen and Bill Hansen, and his cherished wife, Carol.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 10, 2017 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church (St. Vincent site) at 11:00am with Father Matt Simonar officiating. A visitation will take place at 9:00am until the time of the service.
Earl’s family wishes to thank Richard Eiden, a close friend of Earl’s, Debbie and the Heartland Hospice Staff and Kaylan and The Waterford Staff for their loving and excellent care of Earl.
