Edward E. "Jiffy Ed" Lemke's Obituary
Edward E. "Jiffy Ed" Lemke, age 71, of Oshkosh, of Tews Two Sporting Goods, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side early Friday morning, November 6, 2009. Ed was born on December 10, 1937 in Appleton, a son of the late Henry John and Evelyn (Seehawer) Lemke II. He married the love of his life, the former Donna L. Baxter on August 10, 1957. Ed had worked for Oscar J. Boldt Contruction and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139. He also owned and operated Tews Two Sporting Goods in Oshkosh where he proudly worked until the day of his death. Ed was an active member and loved his Church, Grace Ev. Lutheran in Oshkosh and headed the property board at the Church. Ed also was an active member of the Winnebago Conservation Club and had been a member of the Otter Street Fishing Club for many years. He will long be remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and sturgeon spearing. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His memory will be cherished by his wife Donna of 52 years; their children, Fay A. Hintzke, Cindy L. (Jeff) Aaronson, Edward D. "Tiger" (Ingrid) Lemke, Lisa M. (Dale D.) Decker and Henry J. (Jenni) Lemke III all of Oshkosh; ten grandchildren, Ian, Adam, Brandi, Nick, Davey, Lacy, David, Jamie, Amanda and Faith; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Baylee, Lily and Griffyn. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and many very dear friends and loyal Sport Shop customers. Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin H. Lemke and a great-grandson, Blake. He was also preceded by his beloved campanion dog, "Mackie".
A memorial service celebrating Ed's life will be held on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 913 Nebraska Street in Oshkosh with the Reverend Chadwick Graham officiating. A time of visitation and support for the Lemke family will be held at the church on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a number of memorials will be established in Ed's name. The family wishes a that a sincere thank you be extended to Dick Marin for his exceptional care of Ed and the shop over the past year. Ed's own words, "Ihope when I go to Heaven, the good Lord has a place for me to spear up there!"
